Emei Mountain Scenic Area stands in the southwest of the Sichuan Basin, 7 kilometers southwest of Emeishan City, 37 kilometers east of Leshan City. The scenic area covers an area of 154 square kilometers, and the highest peak is about 1099 meters above sea level. It is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. There are about 26 temples, and there are eight major temples, and Buddhists events are frequently launched here. Respected by the believers all over the world, it is a demonstration spot in Sichuan Scenic Area and it is a National Civilized Scenic Area. On December 6, 1996, the Leshan Giant Buddha of Emei Mountain was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as a double heritage of culture and nature.
It is one enough to visit Emeishan within 1-day trip. Tickets and scenic cars are used for two days. It is recommended to play at Mount Emei at least one and a half days. There are many intercity high-speed trains every day in Chengdu East Railway Station and South Railway Station. It takes 1 hour to go to Leshan Station. Before leaving the station, there will be regular staff to guide the tourists to take the free bus to the scenic spot, which will take around half of an hour to arrive the Leshan Giant Buddha and stop at the cruise ship terminal. You can take a boat trip to see the Buddha, and the time is very short, for about half an hour. When buying a ticket of taking boat cruise, you must say whether you want to insure or not, otherwise the ticket seller will directly ask you for the insurance money! After sailing for a while, you will arrive at the Leshan Giant Buddha. The Buddha is very tall and spectacular, and you can see the statues on the rocks on both sides.
